what we believe

ONE* Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of ONE* based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

The Bible
We believe the entire Bible, in its original writing, is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Holy Spirit to write words of Scripture. The Bible is inspired, infallible, and inerrant.
2 TIMOTHY 3:16-17; 2 PETER 1:2-21; 2 PETER 3:15-16; GALATIANS 1:11-12; 1 THESSALONIANS 2:13
Trinity
We believe there is one God eternally existent in three persons: God, the Father; God, the Son; God, the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal.
GENESIS 1:26; MATTHEW 3:16-17, 28:19; JOHN 14:26; 2 CORINTHIANS 13:14; HEBREWS 3:6-8
Jesus Christ and His Resurrection
We believe Jesus Christ is God, the Son. On earth, Jesus Christ was 100% God and 100% man. Jesus was born of a virgin, performed miracles, and lived a sinless life. He offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice for the sins of mankind by dying on a cross, and through the shedding of His blood, atoned for our sins. After three days, Jesus arose from the dead demonstrating his power over sin and death. After His resurrection, Jesus ascended to Heaven’s glory to the right hand of the Father and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make mankind aware of their need for salvation through Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christ-follower from the moment of salvation. He provides them with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, guidance in following Jesus in their daily lives and with spiritual gifts to help build and grow the church.
MATTHEW 1:18, 20; 3:11, 16; JOHN 14:16-17, 26; ACTS 1:8; 2:4; 1 CORINTHIANS12:3-11, 13; EPHESIANS 1:13-14
Mankind
We believe mankind was created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him and is the supreme object of God’s creation. However, mankind became alienated from that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, mankind is totally incapable of having a relationship with God by his or her effort. Our relationship with God can only be restored through faith in Jesus Christ.
 GENESIS 1:26-27, 31; ROMANS 3:23; 5:12, 15-17; EPHESIANS 2:1-3; 8-10
Salvation
We believe we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ - His death, burial, and resurrection. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or any human efforts. Every Christ-follower will spend eternity with God.
ACTS 2:21; EPHESIANS 2:8-9; ROMANS 6:23; ROMANS 10:9-10, 13; 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17-21; EPHESIANS 1:5; 1 PETER 1:5, 10
Repentance
We believe it is through repentance that we receive forgiveness of sins and salvation in Christ. As Christ-followers, when we confess our sins and repent of them, God is faithful to forgive us and restore us again.
2 CHRONICLES 7:14; PROVERBS 28:13; MATTHEW 3:2; 4:17; MARK 1:15; ACTS 2:38; 3:19; 17:30; GALATIANS 6:1; JAMES 5:16; 2 PETER 3:9; 1 JOHN 1:9
Sanctification
We believe sanctification is the ongoing process of yielding to God’s Word and His Spirit to develop the character of Christ in all who believe. It is through this transforming work of the Holy Spirit and God’s Word that conforms every believer into the image of Jesus.
ROMANS 8:29; 12:1-2; 1 PETER 1:15-16; ACTS 1:8; ROMANS 8:1; EPHESIANS 4:12-16; 5:15-20; PHILIPPIANS 2:12-13
The Christian Life
We believe every Christ-follower should live for Christ and not for himself or herself. By obedience to the Word of God and yielding to the Spirit of God in their daily lives, believers will mature and become conformed to the image of God’s Son.
MATTHEW 16:24-25; MARK 12:30-31; LUKE 9:23-24; ROMANS 12:1-2; GALATIANS 2:20; EPHESIANS 4:1; COLOSSIANS 2:6-7
The Church
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, and Christ is the head of the Church. The purpose of the Church is to glorify God by loving Him, living for Him and making Him known. It is through the Church that God brings the Good News of Jesus Christ and hope to a lost and dying world.
ACTS 2:42-47; EPHESIANS 4:11-12, 15; 5:23-27, 32; COLOSSIANS 1:18; 1; THESSALONIANS 1:1
Eternity
We believe that God created Man to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. Heaven is the eternal dwelling place for all people who put their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with him is eternal life. Heaven and hell are places of eternal existence.
JOHN 3:16; ROMANS 6:23; 1 JOHN 2:25, 1 JOHN 5:11-13; MATTHEW 6:9-10; 19:21; 2 CORINTHIANS 5:1-3; 1 THESSALONIANS 4:16-17; HEBREWS 11:16; 1 PETER 1:4; REVELATION 21:1-2, 10 | MATTHEW 10:28; 13:41-42, 25:31-46; MARK 9:43-48; LUKE 16:19-31; HEBREWS 9:27;REVELATION 14:9-11; 20:12-15; 21:8
The Holy Spirit and Spiritual Gifts
We believe the Holy Spirit was given at Pentecost to indwell every believer in fulfillment of the Father’s promise. He was sent by Jesus, after His ascension, to empower the church to live godly lives and preach the Gospel throughout the world. The Holy Spirit is manifested through a variety of spiritual gifts to build up the church and to serve others well. These gifts always operate through the power of the Spirit and in harmony with the Scriptures and should never be used in violation of Biblical parameters.
ACTS 1:8; ACTS 2:1-4, 17-18, ACTS 8:15-17; ACTS 9:17-18; ACTS 10:44-47; 1 CORINTHIANS 12:4-11; 1 CORINTHIANS 14:18-19; 1 PETER 4:10; 2 PETER 1:3
Healing of the Sick
We believe the healing of the sick was manifested in the life of Jesus and His disciples and continues today through the power of the Spirit as part of Jesus’ redemptive work on the cross. Healing is also a gift of the Holy Spirit.

Water Baptism
Every new believer and disciple of Christ is commanded by Jesus to be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Baptism is about going public with our faith in Jesus Christ. It is a representation that we have been buried with Christ and raised with Him to new life meaning that our old life is gone and a new life has begun. As we like to say, “From Death, To Life!”
MATTHEW 3:13-17; 28:19; MARK 16:16; ACTS 2:38; 8:12-13; 9:18; 10:48
Communion
Communion or the Lord’s Supper is about remembering what Christ has done for us and the sacrifice He made through His death on the cross to give us salvation and establish a new covenant through the shedding of his blood. This is demonstrated by receiving elements of bread and grape juice, which are symbols of Christ’s body and blood. We receive communion monthly during our services.
MATTHEW 26:26-28; LUKE 22:19-20; ACTS 2:42-46; 1 CORINTHIANS 10:16; 11:23-26
Marriage
We believe marriage is defined in the bible as a sacred union between one biological man and one biological woman, instituted by, and publicly entered before, God and others.
